Description

For sale is a transferrable land lease and Tourism Establishment Licence with occupancy of 12 for Burnside River Camp for fishing and all tourism related activities.  This licence and lease is transferrable to anyone, no residency requirement.  It is very unique and one of a kind, it covers two areas and activities.

The fly in camp consists of five insulated cabins, a separate kitchen and dining cabin, outhouse style washroom facilities and a generator/workshop building. Accommodations consist of bunk style beds and each cabin has an oil-stove heater.  A protected beach behind the camp allows for boat and aircraft access and occasional swimming, if you dare to brave the cold Arctic waters.

Fishing on the Burnside River ranks among the best in Nunavut for lake trout, Arctic grayling, and landlocked Arctic char. Fly-fishing for these fish is quite rewarding in both upstream and downstream portions of the river where fast water provides excellent river rapids, riffles and pools. Additionally, feeder rivers (i.e., downstream Cree River) and streams are easily accessed from the camp and support excellent fishing within and at their outlets to the Burnside.

Kathawachaga Lake (upstream), wider portions of the river and river areas right off the camp esker provide excellent trolling and spin cast fishing for trout and char that easily average 5 - 10 lbs and fly fishing for surface feeding grayling.

Area Data

This area is rich in history, Samuel Hearn and Sir John Franklin both crossed the Burnside in this area.  Close to ‘Nadlok’ which is one of the most incredible archaeological sites in Nunavut, both Inuit and Dene.

The Burnside River is a classic tundra river flowing into the Arctic Ocean, isolated and rugged, offing great fishing, challenging whitewater, dramatic scenery and abundant wildlife.  See caribou, muskox, grizzly and wolves as well as hawks, eagles and gyrfalcons.  Hike through rolling tundra, cross the Arctic Circle and experience an isolated wilderness gem.

A true arctic experience!
