Pellett Lake Camp is located just south of the Arctic Circle within Canada’s newest territory, Nunavut. Situated on a large esker system on the east side of the 60 mile long
Pellett Lake.
Pellett Lake Camp accommodations include insulated wooded cabins complete with oil stoves for the cooler season and bunk style beds. Hot shower facilities are available. There is a main cooking and dining tent providing a spacious location to kick back and enjoy a hearty meal after a day on the water.
Fishing on Pellett Lake and at its in flowing and out flowing streams is exceptional. The lake is virtually unfished. A fish stock survey was conducted in 1998, by intensively angling various lake habitats (catch and release). Results of this survey confirmed that the lake supports extremely large and healthy populations of lake trout and arctic grayling of trophy size. Although twenty to thirty pound lakers are more frequently caught, Pellett Lake is known to support trophy trout in the fifty pound and above range.
Arctic grayling, provide the spin cast and stream fly fisherman with hours of non-stop action and have been caught regularly in the three-pound range. Easily found to the north, northeast and south of the camp in addition to small-lake populations located within easy walking distance from camp and the lake’s shoreline.
Pellet Lake Camp provides not only great fishing but also spectacular opportunities to view a variety of wildlife especially caribou. Located within the migration path of the Bathurst herd sightings of individual and large numbers of animals are frequent. Wolf, arctic fox, wolverine, muskox and grizzly bear also provide excellent viewing and photo opportunities. |
