Description

This territory is located north of Cranbrook and centered around Skookumchuk taking in both side of the valley with the Rocky Mountains on the east and the Purcell Mountain Range on the west.  Over the years this territory has produced some great game and has a good reputation with the hunting fraternity.  There are 2 cabin camps and several smaller spike camps that are used throughout the season.  The area has many older roads and trails of which many are closed to motorized vehicles during the hunting season.  One cabin camp is accessible by vehicle while the other is only accessible by horse or team and wagon.  Generally speaking the whole operation is run using horses and stocking on foot.

Main species in this territory, as in much of the Kootenays, is Elk.  There is also excellent opportunity while guiding Elk to take Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer or both.  Grizzly, Goat and Moose quotas are easily filled.  Spring bear season is successfully run taking excellent quality Black Bear and Grizzly.  The present outfitter has underutilized the area to ensure good populations and size of Black Bear.  Winter season brings the opportunity of cat hunting with Cougar hunts in demand.

This is a prime location for a Kootenay resident allowing the outfitter to either live in or near the territory while enjoying this sought after location and wonderful climate the valley offers.
